2022 Ford Bronco Sport
It's not the biggest SUV. It's not the most extreme either. But don't let that fool you, the Ford Bronco Sport is a true adventurer that can take you on both city and country drives. Depending on the version you choose, the Bronco Sport will offer you a long list of features that will amaze you with their versatility and comfort.
Aesthetically, the Bronco Sport 2022 is a scaled-down version of the highly successful larger Bronco. Smaller, it shares its platform with the Ford Escape but benefits from elements more characteristic of vehicles capable of tackling all roads. It's not identical, but it does share some of the same features, including the grille and styling.
Two engines
To power this little adventurer, Ford offers two powertrains. The Base, Big Bend and Outer Banks versions share a 181-horsepower, 190-pound-foot turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. While the displacement may seem small, don't be fooled: the abundance of low-end torque makes it surprisingly responsive. The Bronco Sport can tow up to 2,000 pounds if properly equipped.
The Badlands version, the most upscale of the family, has a more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine: its 250-horsepower are deployed at 5,500 rpm while the 277 pound-feet of torque are quickly accessible, allowing for surprising power and velocity for a vehicle this size. It does 0-100km per hour in less than 7 seconds and has a towing capacity of 2,200 pounds. Four-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission are standard on all Bronco Sport models.
A true adventurer
Depending on how it's equipped, and Badlands is the master of that, the Ford Bronco Sport can traverse rugged terrain with impressive obstacles. It has a raised suspension and upgraded shocks to help it meet the world's challenges.
Dual-clutch rear transmission with differential lock, 17-inch off-road tires and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters complete the package for the most off-road of the family.
You can't get started without being able to select your driving mode. The Ford Bronco Sport comes standard with G.O.A.T., which stands for "go over any terrain." It is easy to understand that the vehicle is equipped with a gear that adapts to different conditions. Its basic version offers the following modes: Sand, Slippery, Sport, Ecological and Normal. Each of these modes adjusts the throttle and steering response and the all-wheel-drive system.
The Badlands version takes the experience a step further, adding Rock and Mud modes, providing the Bronco Sport with the tools it needs to get around in all conditions. Trail Control, a form of cruise control available in off-road mode, is optional. A 180-degree camera with cleaning spray is placed in front of the vehicle to better view the road at low speeds.
Comfort and safety
The 2022 Bronco Sport not only offers adventure, but it also offers a pleasant and comfortable ride, even in the most civilized areas. A large 6.5-inch instrument panel feeds the driver information, while an 8-inch touchscreen sits in the center of the center console to provide all the details of comfort and entertainment. Navigation and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
The SYNC3 system is available on all Bronco Sport models, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and FordPass connectivity, including remote start and remote keyless entry. FordPass Connect also turns the Bronco Sport into a docking station for internet access.
In terms of safety, all variants of the SUV are equipped with the Ford Co-Pilot package that offers essential driving aids such as blind-spot monitoring. The Co-Pilot Assist option adds lane-keeping assist and other advanced features.
The cargo area can also be outfitted with a sliding table that doubles as a work area, a 400-watt inverter, and LED lights built into the inside of the rear door to illuminate the ceiling.
The Ford Bronco Sport is smaller than its big brother, but it offers no less capability. I'm ready for adventure, whether it's around town or in the woods!
